LearnYourSubject

Terms of use

Last updated: 17 October 2026

These terms apply when you use learnyoursubject.com ("LearnYourSubject", "we"). By making an account or buying a plan you agree to them. Please read them, they are short.

1. Who we are

LearnYourSubject is run by Leo Zemp, Switzerland. You find our full address in the legal notice. Contact: support@learnyoursubject.com.

2. What we offer

Video lessons, revision notes, practice and a speaking tutor for Edexcel International GCSE and International A Level subjects, and Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language. We add and improve material over time. Subjects marked "coming soon" are not part of a plan until they launch.

The speaking tutor and the feedback on writing are produced automatically by software. They are usually right, but they can make mistakes, and estimated marks are a guide, not an official grade. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge. Past papers are linked on Pearson's own website and belong to Pearson.

3. Your account

You need an account for anything beyond the free lessons. Keep your password to yourself. An account is for one person: sharing it, or letting others use it, is not allowed. An account can be used on one device at a time; opening it on another device closes it on the first. If an account is used on many devices in one day, we send a warning, and if it happens again within 30 days the account is blocked without a refund. Schools, teachers and tutors who want to use LearnYourSubject with a class or with several students: please write to us at support@learnyoursubject.com. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian agrees before you buy a plan.

4. Plans and prices

The free account opens the first lessons of every topic, past papers and a short try of some features. Paid plans (One subject, All subjects, and the Speaking extra) are subscriptions, paid monthly or yearly in advance. Prices are shown in Swiss francs, euros, pounds or US dollars on the plans page and at checkout; you pay in the currency you choose there, and a plan keeps that currency.

Speaking includes 10 hours a month with the tutor, counted per calendar month (Swiss time). Unused minutes do not carry over to the next month. A single session lasts at most 30 minutes. To keep the service fair and affordable, other features have generous daily limits.

5. Payment and renewal

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Before a yearly plan renews we email you. If a payment fails, we try again for a short time; after that the plan ends.

If we change prices, the new price applies only from your next renewal, and we tell you at least 30 days before. You can cancel before it applies.

6. Changing and cancelling your plan

You can change your plan in your account. Adding Speaking or moving from one subject to all subjects starts straight away; you pay the difference for the rest of the period you already paid. Removing Speaking, moving to one subject, or switching between monthly and yearly payment starts at your next renewal: you keep what you paid for until then, and nothing is refunded for the time already paid.

You can cancel at any time in your account. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for; after that you go back to the free account and your progress stays saved.

7. Refunds

If you are not happy, write to us within 7 days of your first payment for a plan and we refund it in full. After 7 days, payments are not refunded, also not for the rest of a period after you cancel or change your plan, but you can cancel so that nothing more is charged. Where the law gives you more rights, those rights apply.

Customers in the EU: you usually have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. When you buy, you ask us to give you access straight away and confirm that you know your right of withdrawal ends once access starts. Our 7-day refund still applies.

8. Copyright: our material is ours

All videos, notes, diagrams, practice tasks, recordings, texts, the design and the software of LearnYourSubject are protected by copyright and belong to us or to those who licensed them to us. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own studies while you have access.

You may not:

If we see this happen we can block the account without a refund, and we may take legal action.

9. Fair use of the site

Do not misuse the site: no attempts to break in, overload it, or send harmful or unlawful content to the tutor or to us. We may suspend accounts that do.

10. Availability

We work to keep the site running, but it can be unavailable at times, for example for updates. We may change or improve features. If we ever close the service, we refund the unused part of paid plans.

11. Liability

We put a lot of care into the material, but we cannot promise exam results. As far as the law allows, we are only liable for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For important changes we tell account holders by email at least 30 days before they apply.

13. Law

Swiss law applies. Courts at our place of business have jurisdiction, but if you are a consumer you can always also go to the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of the law of your country.
